Upholding English Proficiency for Communicative Competence

                Proper words in proper places make the true definition of a style. Proper spoken English instantly marks you out as a highly educated person whose views and opinions are seriously taken.  

        In order for us to be respected while speaking, we need to use proper English. For instance, while the teacher is having a lecture, he had used wrong grammar. The effect of what he did is student might laugh on him while having his lecture which is a sign of disrespect. It will be bear to their minds that the teacher is not highly educated in using proper English and they would not take seriously what he is telling. Good grammar keeps the listener focus on what he has to say, not on how he says it in a wrong way. In texting, we are fun of shortcuts and there is a group of people who they called “jejemon”. They are destroying the use of proper English. They think that they are cool when they are using this kinds of words, “eow phowz” which is supposed to be hello, “where na u?” which is supposed to be where are you? and others which they change the correct spelling and add some new words. The educated persons might laugh on and there is a tendency that they would not be able to understand their message.

        Reading books, magazines and newspaper may enhance our correct grammar and also doing grammar exercises. Use correct English for communicative competence!

No man in this world can live without energy resources. When the population will continue to increase, there would be an inevitable shortage in the future. The researchers continue to develop alternative technologies and methods that can be our source of energy but due to financial and natural problem they can’t continue to produce these technologies. For instance, the installation of the wind power energy, it can’t be used in some areas due to environmental reasons that’s why it is difficult to convert wind power into electricity. Even though these technologies would be successful, we can’t deny the fact that some country can’t afford to produce this kind of technologies.

This theme aimed to encourage the students to sustain energy by joining the club.

By encouraging conservation, increasing investments in clean renewable sources of energy and promoting increased domestic production of oil and gas, we can build a more secure future for our country.

My Teacher My Hero

“Great teachers help create great students.”

Everyday, I almost stay 9-10 hours in school but my parents are not worrying because they know that I have my second parents in school who are my teachers.

          My teacher is the one who shapes my mind. She is sacrificing to give us knowledge for us to become worthy sons and daughter of our nation. I still remember during the first day of school, she told us that she hates to be in a noisy class but as days passed by, she already understands why we were like this. She knows how to control and improve our bad attitude which is laziness. She serves as a good model to us. She is not only teaching us about our topic but she also teaches us how to manage our time wisely. Whenever we need to settle up something, she wants it to be organized so that it will be faster. Mrs. Elizabeth Quitoriano is also our friend. She is always there when we have a problem. When some of her students quarreled, she is doing something to make them friends. When it comes to puppy love problems, she is also there to give us advices. When she gives us projects and assignments, she is the one who appreciates my effort. She encourages us to overcome our shyness by letting us all recites during her class. She motivates us to study our lessons everyday.

          Some students who don’t know her tell her that she is very strict but the truth is she is very lovable and supportive adviser. I will never forget her.

Modern Hero

Being a hero is about the shortest- lived profession.                  

Mother is the most challenging job in the world. My mother, Elisa Ragunjan is my hero. She did all right things and served as a good model. She took care of me when I was a little. She is the reason why I know how to write, to talk, and most of all to be a good person. She is very protective. Every time our father would scold me because of quarrelling to my sister, she is there to protect and save me. Even though she is working to support our studies and some of our daily needs, she is always making sure that she has enough time to guide us always. Every morning she wakes up early to cook our food and prepare our uniform and things to bring in school. My mother is truly my best friend. Whenever I buy my clothes, she is there to help me decide if what is the best clothes for me. When I was in trouble, my friends were not there but my mother was. I also share her stories about the boys who want to court me. When I’m not feeling well, she is very caring. She makes sure that I’m taking my medicines.

When I grow up, I hope to be like her. I want her to be proud of me. Without her, there is no me.

Tatag ng Wikang Filipino, Lakas ng Pagka-Pilipino

“Man invented language to satisfy his deep need to complain”, a quote stocked to my mind from the writings of Lewis Thomas.  

Language is the key to communication and by using our national language which is Filipino, understanding will be easier to achieve. The people who are protesting to defend their rights don’t have weapons like gun, bomb and cannon but they can protect and defend themselves by simply using our national language. In associating to the mayors, barangay captain or any leader who they wanted to complain, they need to use only one language. If the leaders are using English language and the protesters are using our Filipino language, they would not be able to understand each other. When both of them would use the Filipino language, it will be easier for them to fix and solve the problem among them.

Philippines is the third largest English speaking country in the world but it doesn’t mean that we should already forget our own language. We have our major languages in the Philippines like Cebuano, Ilocano, Bicolano, Kapampangan and Ilonggo but in spite of that, Filipino is still our national language. Our citizenship is known by the language we use. Are you proud to be a Filipino? If you’re proud, then you must use our Filipino language. “Language exerts hidden power, like moon on the tides.”

Learnings

          I can compare my self to a half charged battery cellphone during out ICT class. I have learned a lot in our discussions. Our main topic was about internet.  I have discovered its history, services and tools and the persons who have contributions in developing it. As an application to what we have learned about internet, our teacher taught us about blogs and let us create or own google account.  For me, that was the most enjoyable part of having an ICT class because I can express my thoughts through blogging.

         There were no problems that I have encountered to my lessons. Our teacher discussed them all briefly that is why I understood it all. The problem is my self. I didn't give my best to my quizzes and some of my blogs was rushed. I became very lazy that's why I was only a half charged battery cellphone.

         This next grading, I will do my best to aim a higher test results. Instead of texting, I will be reviewing my notes. I will improve my blogs and the half charged battery cellphone will become a fully charged cellphone. I know that I will be able to do it with the help of God.        

SONA

          The State of the Nation Address (SONA) was delivered at the Session Hall of the House of representatives, Batasan Pambansa Complex, Quezon City on July 23, 2012 by President Benigno Aquino III.

          The president discussed the focus of his administration in ending the culture of wang-wang.  Last year in his SONA, he again talked about wang-wang.  Is there a need for him to to repeat it again?  In a short period of time, can you achieve your target to the radiation of the backlog of 61.7 million textbook and the one-to-one ratio of books to students.  In our State Universities and Colleges, there is a very nice proposal of 48.61 percent increase in their budget next year, but the question is would they approve this nice proposal and can our country provide this big budget?  Remember that it is almost half of their budget in this year.  For me some of what he said is  not yet done but the best was about the PhilHealth. I have proven that this really helps the Filipinos because almost 1/4 of our hospital bill was reduced when my mother was operated.

         His SONA  this year is better than his SONA before.
